Briefing: I am 178cm (5′ 10) I can pretty comfortably flat-foot 790S. I can't flat-foot 790R - but I can reach the ground with my both toes. My 2 humble questions for you:
But the 2021 1290 has lower seat and fuel slung low so should feel even easier to manage. The 790 is very compact, so much so both me and mrs found it cramped for leg room, but we are both 6ft plus. If you have budget try the 2021 1290 and 890 models, but the 790 might do the trick. It will have decent comfort, range and handling.

R seat is more off road focused, so longer spins on tarmac could literally be a pain in the ass. R sits taller on its suspension, and the S is already a tall bike, so you might struggle with it.
