When is a 2.0tdi timing belt due? – 07-04-2009, 11:22 AM. My car is four years old next week but only has 44k on it, im getting conflicting reports on when the timing belt and tensioners are due a change, Audi say 5years or 80k, the service book says only 80k, an independent says only 80k and somone else told me 4 years or 80k.

Frequency of Passat cambelt change. Just had my 4 year old 32,000 miles VW (2.0 ltr, 8v, 115bhp petrol) serviced and was told that the cambelt should be renewed. The VW dealer quoted a discounted £300 to do the job. The chap advised me that it needed doing per the book but given the mileage it could wait another twelve months to which I agreed.
